Repurposing Content

“Repurposing stories is both good for journalism and good for business,” which proves to the producer that people want to see their news or hear it on multiple platforms.

Viewers and readers want to be able to get their news when they want it and they are not always able to tune into the 5 o’clock news or nightly news.  People need to be able to catch their news when they can and this is where they online news world becomes so important. This allows the viewer to interact and be able to catch all forms of the news with just a couple clicks of a mouse.

Since there are only a few number of web news designers, most of them follow the same layout which can be one of the reasons why most sites tend to resemble one another.  Second, the way news gets reported follows a routine leaving most stories to be written the same way.  Third, most web sites look alike because of competition, they constantly want to know what other news sites are doing.

Most people are not going to read pages and pages of a story online, if they are reading something online they want to be able interact with the website.  Some good ideas of this would be links, photos, video, polls, somewhere where the reader could leave his or her opinion.

Television, radio and newspapers all have to bring their content to the web in a way that is pleasing to the viewer if they want their sites to visited often. With digitizing content, everything is at our fingertips and so much more accessible. There is different types of audio and video and this also contributes to the interactivity of the site.

With news being available to us all at times of the day, broadcast news can post content whenever they feel it necessary.  It may be constructed a little differently but the focus is to appeal to all types of viewers, whether they are on-the-go or tuning in at home.
